This summer program at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) offers students a unique opportunity to combine English language study with cultural exploration in the heart of California’s Central Coast. Known for its “Learn by Doing” philosophy, Cal Poly provides a vibrant academic setting where students can improve their language skills while enjoying exciting excursions across San Luis Obispo and beyond. With a mix of classroom learning, local attractions, and outdoor adventures, this camp balances academic enrichment with unforgettable summer fun.
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Cal Poly
Students arrive in San Luis Obispo and check into university housing. Orientation includes a campus tour and welcome activities to help students settle in and meet new friends.
Day 2–5: Language Learning & Local Exploration
Morning English lessons (20–45 hours per week depending on level). Afternoons and evenings feature excursions to local highlights such as:
- SLO Farmers’ Market
- Hike Poly Canyon or Bishop Peak
- Morro Bay coastal visit
- Rock climbing at Cal Poly’s 42′ wall
Day 6: Adventure & Culture
Excursion to Ravine Water Park for a fun-filled day of slides, pools, and relaxation.
Day 7: Beach Day & Reflection
Enjoy California’s coastline with a beach outing to relax, play games, and reflect on the week’s learning. Closing group activities in the evening.
Day 8: Departure
Final goodbyes, certificate distribution, and transfers for departure.
