Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Habsburg Madrid
We’ll meet you at Madrid-Barajas Airport and transfer to our central hotel. After check-in, we’ll hit the ground running with a guided walking tour of the city’s historic core. We’ll explore the picturesque Plaza Mayor, a grand square from the Habsburg era, and wander through the narrow streets of the Austrias district, learning about Madrid’s origins as a royal capital and feeling the history that permeates the old city.
Day 2: Royal Grandeur & Artistic Treasures
Today is dedicated to the pinnacle of Spanish power and art. We’ll tour the Royal Palace of Madrid, the largest royal palace in Western Europe. Its opulent rooms, throne room, and armory showcase the wealth and influence of the Spanish monarchy. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Prado Museum, home to an unparalleled collection of European art, including masterpieces by Goya, Velázquez, and El Greco, offering a visual narrative of Spain’s rich history.
Day 3: Day Trip to Toledo – The Imperial City
We’ll take a day trip to the breathtakingly preserved city of Toledo, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Perched on a hill and surrounded by the Tagus River, this was once the capital of Visigothic Spain. This excursion provides crucial context for understanding Spain’s complex and layered history.
