NASA Space Camp Robotics

6 Days

Trip Overview

This six-day immersive program at the official U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a deep dive into the world of robotics and engineering for young innovators aged 9-11. Trainees learn that their ideas can become reality as they use cutting-edge robotic technologies to solve real-world problems. Through hands-on challenges in air, land, and sea, students work in teams to design, build, program, and test their own robotic creations, culminating in exciting competitions that put their engineering skills to the ultimate test. This is more than a camp—it’s a launchpad for future engineers and astronauts.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Mission Orientation
Arrival at Huntsville International Airport (HSV) between 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. CT. Transfer to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Trainees check into their accommodations, meet their team, and undergo mission orientation. Evening includes a welcome dinner and an introductory tour of the facility.

Day 2: Robotics Fundamentals & Land Challenges
Morning session introduces engineering and programming concepts using VEX Robotics technology. Afternoon is dedicated to designing and building land-based robots for competition on the Challenge Table. Evening activity includes an educational show in the INTUITIVE® Planetarium.

Day 3: Circuit Engineering & Underwater Robotics
Trainees learn about series circuits and build their own LED flashlight to take home. The afternoon shifts to underwater robotics, where teams build and pilot submersible robots. Evening session features RealFlight drone simulations, training in the art of flying Unmanned Aerial Systems.

Day 4: Advanced Programming & Mission Simulation
Full day focused on advanced programming and testing of robots. Teams refine their designs for the final competitions. Evening includes a mission simulation activity, applying new skills in a practical, challenging scenario.

Day 5: Final Competitions & Testing
The week culminates in spirited robot contests. Trainees test the robots they spent the week building and programming in head-to-head challenges. Celebration dinner and team recognition ceremony in the evening.

Day 6: Graduation & Departure
Graduation ceremony at 9:00 a.m. CT. Families are welcome to attend. Check-out and transfer to Huntsville International Airport (HSV) for departure.
